About PAtriot Athletic Club

Patriot Athletic Club was founded in 2006.  North Olmsted was home to two Roman Catholic elementary schools at that time, St. Brendan & St. Richard.  Each school had an athletic booster club for its CYO program.  In order to better utilize resources, a merger of the athletic programs was planned.

The athletic boards of each school appointed representatives to create a framework for a new combined CYO program.  The Diocese of Cleveland was entering into a "clustering" process at that time, where churches in the same geographic area and having similar demographics looked for ways to cooperate on programs.  St. Clarence, as the third member of the North Olmsted cluster, was invited to participate equally in the new CYO organization. The by-laws that serve as PAC's basic governance came out of these discussions.

St. Richard School teams wore blue and white and played under the moniker "Lions", in reference to Richard the Lionheart of England who was a great Catholic Crusader king.  St. Brendan School teams wore red and white and played under the moniker "Navigators" in honor of the parish's patron St. Brendan the Navigator, a great Irish saint.  In order to honor the history of both programs the colors red, white and blue were selected for the new CYO organization's teams. The moniker "Patriots" was chosen to convey the new beginning PAC represented for CYO sports in North Olmsted.
